Every personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, together with any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Hosting
Our virtual private server
solutions come with three Linux releases which you may select from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and protected and the reason to offer you all three of them is to make sure that you will be able to run each app that you would like, since different pieces of software could have different requirements when it comes to the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is backed by a vast community of developers who have generated a large number of software packages that you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System that you pick, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to handle your web hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need some other OS, we can always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for maximum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting
The dedicated server
plans that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also known as the most stable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones as each of them is backed by a different community. The packages which you could add on your server are different and this may matter in case you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the OS that you will select. You can select any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, however if necessary, we can always set up the server once again with another one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the plan at any moment, we can update the OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible.
